Released 0.9.3

Released 0.9.3

As most of you probably noticed by now, we released 0.9.3. The tar file can be found here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/darktable/files/darktable/0.9/darktable-0.9.3.tar.gz/download

Pascal updated his ppa for ubuntu here: https://launchpad.net/~pmjdebruijn/+archive/darktable-release or https://launchpad.net/~pmjdebruijn/+archive/darktable-release-plus (with Exiv2 0.22, and Lensfun 0.2.5 + lens data from svn).

and made great new screencasts explaining a couple of features and differences to 0.9.2. You can find them on our resources page or Pascal’s website

It is a comparatively minor update to our stable 0.9.x series. It does not contain many very cool new features and big changes we have in git, because we don’t consider them stable enough yet. Nontheless, it contains 272 commits over the previous release 0.9.2, mainly containing:

sse optimizations

  • non-local means
  • graduated density
  • velvia
  • color management
  • equalizer
  • zone system

updated translations

  • ru,fr,es,ja,it,sq,pl,nl,de

more presets

  • split toning
  • tone curve
  • equalizer
  • color zones

lots of bugfixes

  • tiling code (low mem/opencl)
  • gcc 4.6 compat

updates

  • libraw 0.13.8
  • rawspeed r379

As well as more basecurves and color matrices.

I’d also like to take the opportunity to point out we have now an awesome new webpage:

https://www.darktable.org

and thank _smn and PolarFox for that!

As always, cheers to everyone who helped make this possible. dt has become huge! this would never be possible for three or five people alone.

  1. libraw 0.13.8, not 0.14b2
  2. Good! I'll test it soon.

Nice to see capital letters, I hope that's the same with Darktable.
  3. :) nope, that will stay "darktable"...
  4. Thank you for another great release. Great work!
  5. Thanks so much for making (and continuing to make) darktable. We run a mix of Linux and Windows, and darktable is wonderful for fine tuning pictures in Ubuntu. : D
  6. I really appreciate the upgrade. Now DT seems to work much smoother with no crashes so far. Maybe I had that tiling bug mentioned above with memory issues on the side.

However, and I'm not sure if it's related, since I installed the update GIMP doesn't open and when I attempt to open it in Terminal I get the following message:

    (gimp:25542): GLib-WARNING **: /build/buildd/glib2.0-2.28.6/./glib/goption.c:2132: ignoring no-arg, optional-arg or filename flags (8) on option of type 0
    paulw@ubuntu:~$

I'm not certain if the glib app has anything connected to DT but could this be the cause of the GIMP problem?
  7. Maybe you should ask the gimp guys here: http://www.gimp.org/mail_lists.html ?
  8. Awesome work guys.
Cant wait to try it out tonight.
    :D
  9. Very nice work !!! :-)

Good work....! BTW i hope to see more performance improvements in the future...i think a release dedicated to only performance, might be a good idea!
  11. Thanks, corrected.
  12. You guys are awesome! keep on the good work!
  13. I coundn't found installation guide for debian:(. Place it in wheezy.
  14. Good release, but you need to work on start-up times. Fairly slow compared to Lightroom 3.6 or Raw Therapee 4. That's on an i5 SandyBridge with 8GB RAM. Keep up good work!.
