released darktable 1.6.6

We are happy to announce that darktable 1.6.6 has been released. Please note that the 1.6.5 release was broken so 1.6.6 was directly pushed out. Just pretend 1.6.5 had been skipped.

The release notes and relevant downloads can be found attached to this git tag: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/releases/tag/release-1.6.6 Please only use our provided packages (“darktable-1.6.6.*” tar.xz and dmg) not the auto-created tarballs from github (“Source code”, zip and tar.gz). The latter are just git snapshots and will not work! Here are the direct links to tar.xz and dmg: https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/releases/download/release-1.6.6/darktable-1.6.6.tar.xz https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/releases/download/release-1.6.6/darktable-1.6.6.dmg

this is another point release in the stable 1.6.x series.

  • fix the Olympus E330 support (which was accidentally broken in 1.6.4)
  • fix white balance reading for the Canon Powershot SX50 HS
  • white balance presets for RICOH GR
  • minor assorted bug fixes (masks, lens correction, profiled denoise, etc)

I really love darktable ... HOWEVER ... I can't get it to run on Slackware 14.1
http://slackbuilds.org/repository/14.1/graphics/darktable/?search=darktable ... I'm able to compile however nothing happens.
    Please help...
  5. Thanks for all the hard work. Running darktable on my 2011 iMac without any hiccups. X-Trans support is wonderful. Other RAW developing applications, some paid for, some free, have disappeared from my Dock, one by one. I don't often need them anymore.

It sounds very good and i tried it under Suse 13.2., sorry, but on a 4 K monitor not working very nice, the darkroom modul is showing the picture mutch to small and the newest version at opensuse is 1.4.2, seams as if the software is not in the Suse repository.
  7. You can (and have to for your 4K monitor) change the viewport size. Go to the preference dialog, GUI options and change the two settings "maximum width/height of image drawing area" to something that suits your monitor.

    Are the 5Ds settings enabled yet ( http://darktable.org/redmine/projects/darktable/search?utf8=✓&q=5ds&scope=subprojects&all_words=&all_words=1&titles_only=&issues=1&changesets=1&wiki_pages=1&commit=Trimite ) ?

darktable 1.6.6+60~g4987875 can't open these samples: http://www.dpreview.com/articles/6322834928/canon-eos-5ds-r-real-world-sample-gallery-posted but RawTherapee 4.2.162 can.
  9. Don't bother trying to do bulk imports with darktable on older (but still good) hardware. (apparently 5 years it much too old)

Slightly disappointed in the lack of forethought that went into this as well.

Oh, and by imports, I mean drag and drop... because the import button doesn't even work.

I can confirm excellent success importing MEF files from a Mamiya ZD back that is almost 10 years old, so I believe your advice to be inaccurate.

The mechanism exiv2 uses to identify cameras, lenses and file types is the exif data that is saved to it. If the manufacturer is not consistent with this or the data structure is corrupted, the file will not be recognized and import will fail.

File inconsistency is much more likely than poor planning by the developers of darktable.
  11. Finally got my Fuji X100T, loving it!

Was quite pleased to see that Darktable opened the RAF files flawlessly.

    Thanks a lot, team!
  12. Thank you for your hard work, this is greate..!!
