  1. First of all - thank you for that outstanding piece of software! I'm using darktable 2.0.3 on MacOS 10.6 and 10.9.5. On my Macbook running 10.9.5 and screen resolution 1280 x 800 the darktable window is too wide, it won't fit in my screen, so I have to drag the window to the right or left. On my MacMini running 10.6.8 and screen resolution 1280 x 1024 the font size and icons are barely readable. None of my displays is a retina one. Any suggestions are very welcome. Thanks in advance.
PS.: Turning on the Lens Correction Filter on a Fuji Finepix HS20 EXR leads to massive barrel distortion.
  2. For both your problems: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.graphics.darktable.user/9399
  3. Hi, yesterday i updated the latest darktable on mint 17, and now when opening it, it gives a black screen with a kind of game saying push 1 or 2 players button ,score, high score !!!! can someone help with that ?

    Olivier
  4. Netter Aprilscherz! Danke für das Spiel!!
  5. I loved your April fool's prank in this release! Thanks for everything as usual... :)
  6. Funny prank for 1st of April but I've no idea on how to unlock the screen !!
Is there a good knight to help ?
    Thanks
  7. hello, after to let darktable 2.0.3 i have a game and not my darktable ¿what i do?

The software is unusable on my machine as a result of this childish prank. If you want people to take FOSS seriously, then this isn't the way to go about it.
  10. Roger Smith on Fri Apr 01 09:49:01 2016:
Sorry didnt appreciate the prank with the game. NOT FUNNY given the amount of spyware being integrated with software.

This is not what I expect to see from such superb software, especially when I have little time to sort out potential risks and need to work on valuable pictures.

This dumb stunt sent several of my less program literate friend into a panic.

Put you programming skills to better use.
  11. It's only an April fool's prank (joke). Just double click on the game and your library will load normally. :)
  12. jajajaj jajaja ok, now i understand.
I waited for the game over.
    Good joke.
    thanks.
  13. Hi,
I'm not sure I appreciate this way of celebrating the 1st of April. It works
just like a malware and shows anything can be done with the DT code.
I think I have a sense of humor, but not this time.
  14. My parents use the Darktable since 3 Years under Ubuntu (currently 14.04). They like the Software very much. They did not like the the April's fool Prank since they are no Nerds that even understood.

Hint: You can doubleclick to close the game before game over.
  15. That's absolutely not funny. A April Prank in a productive software is a very bad idea and discredits the entire project. I'm really pissed.
  16. Ah Ah ... You gave us a good laugh! :)
  17. Yes, press to start.
  18. Oh, if it opened your eyes that running other people's software means you have to trust them then I see that as a good thing. The good thing is, our code is open so you (or other people that you trust) can look at every change we do (and many people actually do that) and notice bad things being added.
  19. So, April 1st is almost over – at least here – and I'd like to answer to all the people that complained about the little interruption: Relax. It's just a silly little game that you can just leave by switching views as usual ('l' for lighttable, …). And no one will see it again for another year if he doesn't want to. And about being taken serious, if it's either that or having fun sacrificing my free time for all of you I am sure what to do.
Bye, have to play another round while it's still today.
  20. You got me. Couldn't believe my eyes - "The Good Knight". Can't tell you how fast I was on the google search about it. I feel like I had a double espresso in less than 10 sec. Now I appreciate it :-)

You guys are awesome! Darktable rocks! One of the bestest coolest software!

    Thanks a lot!!!
  21. I think what the developers did with the April Fools prank was something very valuable in the sense of making us (users and devs) a bit closer in a way, something like an ice-breaker. I'm amazed how people respond to something like this with so much negativity. You expect them to be "more professional" and feel that it discredits a project? What do you mean by that? Today I saw a prank on Facebook from a commercial software I use for pro-audio, "Mixbus", which I do pay money for, and it's not any ordinary program, they even create consoles from way back 60's or 70's and ABBA, Queen, Michael Jackson have been recorded in these consoles. This is an enterprise company and they pulled a prank today:

    https://www.facebook.com/HarrisonMixbus/posts/10156693462480153

What is wrong with that? I think it's great! When I saw the game in DT late last night it brought a smile to my face, and I played it with joy, I'm sure developers were expecting that response from everyone, I guess not everyone has a sense of humor, so sad...

Thanks DT developers for your hard work and for your humanity...

    Cheers!
  22. Hi, count me in the group that really likes your April fool's day prank. I must admit you got me. By happen, I built the 2.0.3 yesterday evening and then jumped half meter at my set when I started it ;o)

    Good joke, good job.
Have a nice April, and thank you,
    Michal
  23. Antonio Mini on Sat Apr 02 16:01:34 2016:
Hi, I would like to add my thanks to the DT team and all contributors and supporters for some great piece of software. I am glad I can enjoy my hobby on a stressless OS.
  24. Hehe, don't know why April 1st joke threw everyone out of order, it's free software, be happy you got a "game" with it for free! :P Also it's not like you can't exit it! I just started pressing some buttons, and the game closed... I think people are mad becouse they know they failed for a joke, and don't want to admit it! As i said, it's a wonderful piece of software & it's free! Be happy you have it, and also admit if you fail for the joke not critisize the software & developers because YOU failed for the joke! Don't hate the players, hate the game! :P :)
  25. I already was missing Easter eggs in today's software... I just remember Easter eggs in ancient Microsoft programs... But actually I wanted to ask if there will ever be something like a "hotfolder" in darktable for more productive use with external tethering apps. (Godknowswhy darktable doesn't respond to PENTAXs anymore... Though PENTAX DSLRs are listed on the libgphoto2 website as supported with tethering - maybe some of you guys developing darktable are frustrated ex-PENTAX users ??? I could completely understand... :D )
  26. You're getting a fantastic piece of software for free.

And you are complaining about the programmers who provide you with said service having a sense of humour?

A sense of humour is a good thing. Try it. Very enjoyable.
  27. awww...
  28. Luca Caligo on Tue Apr 05 15:17:40 2016:
    Great Work !

I am experimenting problems with compressed raw files from the Fuji XPRO2. Darktable is unable to open the file under the development module.

It works fine with uncompressed raw files.
  29. First, I want to say it darktable is fantastic. And that I'm completely impressed by it and by the work that's gone into it. A wonderful balance of power and ease-of-use.

I'm not sure that it was a good idea at all to play a game on April 1. Some people might have thought their machine had a malware infection and could have over-reacted and done actual damage.

That said, incredibly good software. I'm grateful for all the work the developers have put in. I have looked over the darktable web site and found no link to a way to contribute. Is darktable an entirely volunteer project?

    Thanks!

    C
  30. Richard, no one is forcing them to release it for free – it was their choice. Criticism is valid and, IMO, the 'prank' does appear foolish.
  31. Yes, darktable is a volunteer project.
  32. Auto updated on my debian testing pc. Looks great, thanks.
  33. I bet your fun at parties.....not.....

    Cant take a joke, 'eh?
  34. This prank is made even funner by yours & others reaction...

This has been better than the original prank! LOL

As for "no one is forcing them to release it for free", this is true, and no one is forcing you to use it, considering you feel that you have the right to dog a group of fantastic programmers that has supplied YOU and your "less program literate friend" with free software.

"Criticism is valid..." yes it is, so here is some for your rude & out of place comments....get over it...if you took the time to teach your "less program literate friend" to be more literate instead of dogging the creators of this software, the world would be a better place....
  35. The prank is made even funner by everyone's reaction.....his has been better than the original prank! LOL
  36. I fully agree
  37. Darktable has been the first time that I ve messed with RAW processing and been able to get easy, holy shit levels of improvement.
